Marrakesh | The Best Places to Stay With Children
If you’re traveling to Marrakesh for the first time, we recommend reserving a riad in the Medina. The Medina is the historic quarter of Marrakesh, and is nearly a thousand years old. It’s the best starting point for visiting all the tourist attractions and souks on foot. The selection of riads is vast, and you can easily spend several hours looking for the best lodging. That’s why we’ve created a list of a few authentic gems. Some riads only accept children over a certain age. To be safe, ask before making your decision.
The major hotels are located outside the Medina or in the Palmeraie (a palm tree oasis with hundreds of thousands of trees just outside Marrakesh). There are no space restrictions there because the hotels are larger, and they all have magnificent gardens with olive, orange or lemon trees and several swimming pools. Staying in a beautiful boutique hotel or luxury complex can be a calm and relaxing alternative to the riads (we recommend Beldi Country Club). Most of the hotel complexes are located around 15 minutes by taxi from the Medina.
Here are our favorites:
After a long, full day in the Medina, you’ll be happy to return to this lovely, peaceful riad. The Jaaneman is ideally located next to the souks in the heart of the Medina. It’s a small, intimate riad in a quiet corner, just five minutes from Jemaa el-Fnaa. The riad has a beautiful inner courtyard with exotic plants and huge banana trees. You’ll feel like you’re in the middle of an oasis.
The Jaaneman has a total of five rooms, and is an intimate riad that offers an excellent quality of service. The riad is also available for private rental, making it an ideal choice for a vacation with friends or several families.

RIAD EL ARSAT & SPA
Whatever you do, don’t miss this riad. Unfortunately it’s website isn’t very attractive, and simply doesn’t do justice to the magic of this place.
Riad El Arsat is located in the southern part of the Medina, around 1.5 km from Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Its eight rooms share one of the Medina’s largest private gardens. The authentic, beautifully restored rooms are located on both sides of the garden, with access to the swimming pool, steam room and Jacuzzi. The many palm, fig and bougainvillea trees provide plenty of shade. This riad is truly a paradise for children. They can find turtles, and there’s ample space to play.
Breakfast can be enjoyed on the large patio. The riad also has a restaurant. Reservations can be made each morning. Enjoy a little peace and tranquility after a hectic day in the Medina. It’s the perfect alternative to the Palmeraie hotels.

BEDI COUNTRY CLUB
Beldi Country Club is a paradise for children and their parents located about 10 minutes by car from the Medina. The Beldi has around 30 suites with private patios, three pools (including one that is heated in winter), and three restaurants, as well as boutiques and a spa. The immense garden covers 10 hectares, and features sumptuous olive and orange trees and a rose garden.
A cradle is provided free of charge for your little one. The rooms have bathtubs, and the hotel restaurant offers a children’s menu and high chairs for its youngest diners.
We were particularly impressed by the various activities offered by the hotel. Here is a short list:
- Pottery classes: the kids can create bowls, animals, objects and take them back home in their suitcase.
- Making bread with the chief baker every morning under the olive trees.
- The projection of movies on a big screen.
- At tea time, children eat pancakes, cakes and other sweets offered.
For a romantic diner, parents can request babysitting service upon request.

Reserving through Airbnb is a great alternative. You can rent an entire riad at a reasonable rate, which is particularly practical for large families or trips with friends.
We’ve selected two little gems for you:
In Marrakesh, you’ll find classic locations that have maintained the same exceptional quality for years, for example, Beldi Country Club. Because the availability of riads and Airbnbs is always changing, we are continually enlarging our selection and updating our map.
